Imagine being at work and buying a Scratch ticket on a break. Now imagine scratching that ticket and realizing you had won $175,000. Would you leave work immediately or would you finish out your shift while in shock? For Alan Hall of Great Falls, the decision was easy. As soon as he found out he had won $175,000 playing the Monopoly Scratch game with a ticket purchased at Loaf ‘N Jug, 900 First Ave N.; Great Falls, he left work and drove straight to Lottery headquarters in Helena.

Alan loves to buy Scratch tickets and stated that “this is his biggest win.” Alan only had to scratch off one spot on the ticket to realize that he won the grand prize. He stood in shock, staring at the ticket for a long time until the shock wore off and excitement set in.

Alan, a roofing contractor, plans on using his winning to purchase a small home in Great Falls.

“Monopoly” debuted July 16, 2014 with top prizes up to $175,000.

The Montana Lottery was created by referendum in 1986. Since then, it has paid over $483 million in prizes and returned approximately $217 million to the State of Montana.

We found out we had a $210,000 Montana Cash winner over two weeks ago. We have been anxiously waiting to meet our winner and today we finally got to meet her. Eileen O’Brian of Helena claimed the $210,000 Montana Cash jackpot from the April 1 drawing, with a ticket purchased at Holiday, 401 Euclid Ave.; Helena.

Eileen usually buys her multi-draw Powerball and Montana Cash tickets once every two weeks and uses a combination of numbers from birthdays and important dates pertaining to her children and grandchildren. When she finally checked her tickets a week ago she was pleasantly surprised to find out that all her persistence had paid off. With three kids and thirteen grandchildren, Eileen stated that “there are plenty of ideas she has for spending her winnings.”

Montana Cash is one of the Montana Lottery’s longest running games and re-launched May 11, 2014, with exciting changes. Jackpots now start at $40,000 and increase until it is won. With these changes, jackpots have been able to grow bigger, meaning more money for Montana Cash players. In addition, there are all new prize levels and the overall odds are improved. The Montana Cash jackpot is $70,000 for Saturday’s drawing.

The Montana Lottery was created by referendum in 1986. Since then, it has paid more than $483 million in prizes and returned more than $217 million to the State of Montana.
