If all application materials are submitted without error or delay, the time to process an application is usually no more than two (2) weeks from receipt at the main Lottery office. If the application is not complete, or missing required documentation, this process can be longer as we work with the applicant to acquire the needed documentation.
Your license never expires. As long as you are a location in good standing, your license is always valid.
The type of terminal you receive for your business depends on your license, your type of business, and availability. To learn more about each terminal, including dimensions, please download the Montana Lottery Equipment document or contact our office.
Our Lottery equipment includes specific communications devices and does not rely on any in-location connectivity, such as Wi-Fi or internet connection. For Sports Bet Montana, it is currently required that a location has reliable cellular service as the communications equipment does connect to the cellular service provided in your area. A technician will verify appropriate cellular signal strength exists prior to installation.
Each sales agent will have a dedicated Lottery Sales Representative (LSR) that will visit locations regularly to address questions, assist with inventory management, market trends, and training needs. The LSR will also provide marketing assistance. Additionally, available 24/7/365, a sales agent hotline that provides technical assistance, troubleshooting, training and product assistance. Further have technicians that cover the state to maintain, repair, install, and move equipment.
With every sale made for Lottery products, a commission of 5% is earned. For Sports Bet Montana, a commission of 3% is earned. Montana Lottery sales agents have earned $104.5 million in sales agent commissions since 1987!
