Double Play® is a new add-on feature to the Powerball® game that gives players another chance to match their Powerball numbers in a separate drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million.

Players can add the Double Play feature to their Powerball ticket for an additional $1 per play. The Double Play drawing will be held after every Powerball drawing on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Players will play the same set of numbers in both the main Powerball drawing and Double Play drawing, and Powerball tickets that include the Double Play® feature will be eligible to win prizes in both drawings.

Players can include both the Power Play® and Double Play® features on their Powerball ticket, however, the Power Play multiplier does not apply to prizes won in the Double Play® drawing.

Double Play and Powerball both have winning numbers drawn from the same two pools of numbers: five numbers are drawn from the first pool of numbers 1-69, and one Powerball number is drawn from a pool of 1-26.

Players are trying to match the same set of numbers on their ticket in both the Powerball® and Double Play® drawings. 

Completing a Play Slip

• Ask your clerk for a Quick Pick to have the computer randomly select your numbers for you.
• If you have a favorite set of numbers, complete a Powerball play slip and give it to your Lottery retailer, or insert it into a play slip reader at our self-service terminals.
• Use a pen or pencil in any color other than red.
• Select five numbers from 1 through 69 on the top panel of the play slip.
• Select one number from 1 through 26 (the Powerball) on the bottom panel.
• You can purchase one, two, three, four or five plays on a play slip.
• Each play is $3 and includes the Power Play option to increase all non-jackpot prizes.
• You can play the same set of numbers for up to 24 consecutive draws.
• If you want to play Double Play with Powerball for an additional $1 per play, you must select it on the Double Play section of your play slip or tell the clerk before you buy your Powerball ticket.
• If you're purchasing more than one Powerball play and select the Double Play option, that option will apply to all of your plays.
• You may also make your selections using e-Playslip.

Reading Your Ticket

• Look for the dollar amount you're playing on the ticket across from the word Total.
• Your numbers appear above your ticket sales amount (the five white numbers printed in a row, followed by the specially labeled Powerball number) separated from the other numbers with a [-].
• Next to the Double Play option, your ticket will either read YES or NO, depending on whether or not you added Double Play to your ticket.
• The top of your ticket will show the start date and end date for which your ticket is eligible, and will say Ticket Valid for [X] drawings.

How You Win

• You can check your tickets using a Ticket Checker or you can ask your Lottery retailer to check your ticket using the Lottery terminal, or check your tickets on our website.

Claiming Your Prize

• Immediately sign the back of your ticket to establish ownership.
• Collect prizes up to $599 at any Montana Lottery Sales Agent.
• Collect the jackpot or any prize $600 or greater at Montana Lottery headquarters Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• You may also claim any prize by mail.
• You can download and print a claim form to use when claiming a prize by mail.
• PLEASE NOTE: All prizes must be claimed within six months of the drawing for which your play was eligible. If your ticket is for more than one draw (a multi-draw ticket) and you are claiming a prize before the final draw on your ticket, your retailer will keep your original ticket and give you an EXCHANGE TICKET. Your Exchange Ticket will contain the same numbers and will be valid for any remaining draws.

The Fine Print

• The Powerball jackpot prize and the separate Double Play jackpot prize will be divided equally among multiple winning tickets.
• The annuitized jackpot choice will be paid as an annuity of 30 payments over 29 years.
• A cash option provides a lump-sum cash payment of approximately one-half the advertised jackpot amount.
• The Double Play first prize will be paid as a lump-sum cash payment.
• The set prize amounts of $4 through $2 million published here are based on the expected number of winners sharing the prize pool. In some cases, these prizes may be paid on a pari-mutuel basis and will be lower than the published prize levels.
• Winners who do not furnish a Social Security number or are not citizens of the United States are subject to higher tax withholding rates and will receive less than the advertised jackpot amount.
